William Toutant

William Toutant earned his BA and MA from The George Washington University and his Ph.D. in music theory and composition from Michigan State University. He joined the music faculty of California State University, Northridge in 1975. In addition to teaching theory, composition and musical analysis, he served CSUN not only as a Professor of Music, but also in various administrative positions including Dean of the Mike Curb College of Arts, Media, and Communication.

William became Professor Emeritus in 2013. From 1995 to 2013, he wrote and hosted the weekly radio program, “The KCSN Opera House.” He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Ligia Toutant.
